Picking The Right Bike!

Many people think that choosing a cycling bicycle is simple. Simply finding the bike they like the look of is all there is to it, right? As long as it is comfortable that's all you need to worry about. However this is not the case, there are plenty of things you need to consider when looking for the right bike. There is more to it nowadays than there used to be. Cycling is very popular at the moment, be it for sports, fun, transportation etc. With all these uses there are many different bikes to go with each. Using a bike as the main method of transport is quickly becoming popular. Some people have decided to take up cycling as a hobby. The following will explain how you find the best bike to suit your needs.

You need to make sure you pick a bike that is the right size. For this you must calculate your inseam. To do this, simply run a measuring tape up the inside of your leg from the bottom of your foot to your groin. The goal is to be able to sit on the seat of the bike and still rest your feet flat on the ground. If you can do this you need not worry about stopping in an emergency if your brakes malfunction. Your bicycle seat should not be at the lowest setting, which is sitting atop the crossbar. Always consider that you are going to have to raise the seat up off the crossbar when you are shopping for your bike. When you bring the seat up a few inches, you are going to have more room between the crossbar and you, and this will make for a much more comfortable ride. The goal here is to create a height with your seat so that when your pedal is at its lowest position your leg should be almost (but not quite) fully extended.

Be certain to leave adequate room between yourself and find here your bikes crossbar. When choosing a bike move the seat so it is a couple of inches above the crossbar. Make certain you can still place both feet flatly on the ground. Each type of bike requires different clearances. If you are buying a touring bike, for example, you only need an inch or so of clearance. If you are buying a mountain bike you’ll want more—three inches or so between you and the crossbar.

When looking for a bike your main goal is to find one that suits you physically. That is the primary goal of anyone who chooses cycling as their primary form of transportation. Comfort and saftey are the two most important aspects of riding a bike.
